My Knights are ferocious and usually quickly destroy the enemy, but in this battle it took them longer then I expected to clear out the infantry. While they were engaged, the rest of the independent infantry engaged my Velites, and killed several of them before my Knights could engage them.
I reviewed the battle several times to see if I did anything wrong, but I couldn't find anything. I'm going to chalk this one up to bad luck, but it's unfortunate because I feel like I'm going to need to supply more chaff soon to this army.
I was hoping I would be able to recruit Azure Initiates after the battle since it's extremely important that I find independent mages to help boost my research, but that wasn't the case unfortunately.
For our battle this turn we attack both Morn and Karene:
In Karene we'll just have one Acolyte, and I want to make sure he has a bit of extra protection so I assign him two bodyguards.
I assigned two because they will both join his square, which will make it easier to bless my commander and Knights with two unholy blessing casts (you can have 3 human sized creatures per square).
Will someone think of the children?! |
For our other actions we recruit an independent priest and a scout. In Shadowland we also bump up the province defense (PD) to 6, which has my temple that I want to protect.
6 PD is a good number to shoot for since it will show up to other players as "The local defence of this province appears to be quite well organized.", which might help deter attacks since this could mean the PD is between 6-19.
